Cal.com voice AI integration

The Cal.com integration connects your AI voice and chat agents to Cal.com, so they can check appointment availability on a live call. It's a calendars & scheduling connector that runs as a tool the agent calls mid-conversation — you connect with an api key, attach it to an agent, and it acts in real time without a human in the loop.

What your agent can do with Cal.com

Check appointment availabilityCheck appointment availability

Find free appointment slots on the Cal.com event type this tool is pointed at, between two dates. Offer the caller two or three of the returned times; pass a slot start value straight into Book an appointment, unchanged.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
end_date*stringLast day of the window, as a plain date. It is inclusive. Keep the window to a few days — there is no server-side limit and a wide window is a long silence on the call.
start_date*stringFirst day of the window to search, as a plain date, e.g. 2026-09-10
Book an appointmentBook an appointment

Book the caller into the Cal.com event type this tool is pointed at. Pass a slot start time exactly as Check appointment availability returned it. Most Cal.com event types require the attendee email, so ask for it before calling this.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
attendee_emailstringThe caller email. Cal.com event types require it unless the owner has turned the email question off, so ask for it.
attendee_name*stringThe caller name, as they gave it.
attendee_phonestringCaller phone in full international form, e.g. +919876543210.
start_time*stringAppointment start exactly as Check appointment availability returned it — ISO 8601 WITH its UTC offset, e.g. 2026-09-10T09:30:00.000+05:30. Pass it through UNCHANGED: do not restate it as UTC, do not drop the offset, do not append a Z.
titlestringWhat the appointment is about, in the caller's words. It is written to the booking's Additional notes, where the host reads it.
Get an appointment by IDGet an appointment

Fetch one Cal.com booking by its UID — its time, status and location. Use it to confirm a booking the caller is asking about, or to check that a reschedule landed.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
booking_uid*stringThe Cal.com booking UID, as returned by Book an appointment
Reschedule an appointmentReschedule an appointment

Move an existing Cal.com booking to a new time. Check availability first and pass a returned slot through unchanged. IMPORTANT: this creates a NEW booking with a NEW UID, which is returned — the old UID stops working, so use the new one for anything else on this call.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
booking_uid*stringThe UID of the booking to move
reasonstringWhy it is being moved, in the caller words. Shown to the host.
start_time*stringNew start exactly as Check appointment availability returned it — ISO 8601 WITH its UTC offset, e.g. 2026-09-12T11:00:00.000+05:30. Pass it through UNCHANGED: do not restate it as UTC, do not drop the offset, do not append a Z.
Cancel an appointmentCancel an appointment

Cancel a Cal.com booking. The slot is freed, the booking stays on the record marked cancelled, and Cal.com sends its own cancellation emails.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
booking_uid*stringThe UID of the booking to cancel
reasonstringWhy the caller is cancelling, in their words.
List a caller's appointmentsList a contact’s appointments

List a caller's upcoming Cal.com bookings, soonest first, looked up by their EMAIL address. Cal.com cannot find bookings by phone number, so ask the caller for the email they booked with.

Inputs

FieldTypeDescription
attendee_email*stringThe email the caller booked with. It must be exact — Cal.com has no phone lookup and no partial matching.
Create a booking linkSend booking link

Mint a single-use Cal.com booking link for the event type this tool is pointed at, and return its URL — read it out or send it over WhatsApp/SMS. Use it when the caller would rather pick their own time than be booked on the call.

What you'll need to connect Cal.com

Connect with an API key. In Telenow, open Integrations → Cal.com and provide:

  • API key — Cal.com → Settings → Developer → API keys → Add. The key starts with cal_live_ (or cal_test_ for a sandbox). Give it no expiry, or the connector stops working on the expiry date with a 401.
  • Cal.com account email — The email of the Cal.com account this key belongs to. Reschedules the assistant makes are attributed to it, which is what auto-confirms them instead of leaving the caller waiting on the host. It is checked and corrected automatically when the connection is verified.
