Connect your assistant

Add Telenow to ChatGPT, Claude or Grok in a minute: paste one URL into the assistant, sign in to Telenow, and choose what the assistant may do.

Before you start

  • A Telenow account. Any email address works, Gmail included.
  • You are an owner or admin of the organization you connect.
  • The organization has at least one phone number (Phone numbers) and credit for calls.
  • Telenow knows which voice and model your calls use: either there is a default for your country, or the organization has at least one agent. The connect page tells you if neither is there yet.

The server URL

Use this URL in every assistant:

https://api.telenow.ai/mcp

ChatGPT (and OpenAI dots)

Custom connectors are on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu (not the free plan).

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. On a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin allows custom connectors first.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it Telenow, add a short description (for example "Phone calls, campaigns and call transcripts from my Telenow numbers" — ChatGPT reads it to decide when to use Telenow), paste the URL, and choose OAuth as the authentication.
  3. ChatGPT opens the Telenow page — continue at The Telenow page below.
  4. In a chat, turn Telenow on from the tools menu, then ask.

OpenAI dots use the connectors on your ChatGPT account, so once Telenow is connected there, a dot can use it too.

Claude

  1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector (Claude on the web or desktop).
  2. Name it Telenow, paste the URL and choose Add, then Connect.
  3. Claude opens the Telenow page — continue below.
  4. In a chat, make sure Telenow is on in the tools menu, then ask. The connector works in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps too.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it once under Admin settings → Connectors; each member then connects their own Telenow account from Settings → Connectors. The free plan allows one custom connector.

Grok

  1. Open grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom.
  2. Paste the URL and complete the sign-in Grok starts.
  3. Grok opens the Telenow page — continue below. Grok then lists Telenow's tools and uses them in your conversations.

Grok Bot and other assistants

Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server works the same way: give it the URL above. If it signs you in, you land on the Telenow page below; if it asks for a token instead, give it an organization API key (see Developers below).

The Telenow page

The assistant sends you to a Telenow page. Sign in — or sign up; you come back to the same page afterwards — and choose:

  1. What it may do. Each permission is a checkbox; leave out what you do not want.

    PermissionLets the assistant
Read callsSee your calls, transcripts and summaries, and your numbers, agents and campaigns.
Place callsPlace phone calls from the numbers you choose, using an AI agent.
Create agentsCreate voice agents — single-context or multi-step — and change the ones it created.
Give agents toolsOff unless you tick it. Lets the agents it creates reach outside the call: webhooks and APIs, connected apps, call transfers, pre-call lookups, custom model endpoints, links, public pages and messages after the call.
Run campaignsCreate calling campaigns on the numbers you choose, add people to them and start them; pause any campaign on those numbers.
  2. The organization it works in, if you belong to more than one.

  3. The numbers it may call from. It only sees calls and campaigns on these numbers.

  4. Limits (optional):

    • Calls per day — asked for when it may place calls or run campaigns: every single call it places and every person it adds to a campaign, over any 24 hours.
    • Minutes per call — asked for when it may place calls: a single call is cut at this length. Campaign calls follow the agent's own maximum length.

Your organization's own spend and usage limits apply either way.

Click Allow. The assistant is connected.

When you first connect with Place calls (or on the assistant's first one-off call), Telenow creates an agent called AI assistant calls in your organization. The assistant's one-off calls run on it unless it picks another of your agents; you can change its voice or prompt in the builder like any other agent.

Developers: an API key instead of signing in

Tools that let you set a header — Claude Code, the xAI API's remote MCP tool, your own MCP client — can use an organization API key:

claude mcp add --transport http telenow https://api.telenow.ai/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer vai_live_…"

A key works across its whole organization: every number, every call, every campaign — and a key that may write gets every permission, Give agents tools included, and may change every agent and run every campaign an assistant made. A read-only key gets read access only. Prefer a signed-in connection for anything a person uses day to day — it is limited to the numbers they pick, carries their limits, and can be disconnected on its own. More in Protocol & OAuth for developers.

See and disconnect connected assistants

Workplace → Connected assistants lists every assistant connected to the organization: what it may do, its numbers and limits, and — for one that may place calls or run campaigns — how much of its daily limit it used in the last 24 hours. Disconnect stops it at once. New connections are made from the assistant.

A connection also stops working when the person who approved it leaves the organization or stops being an owner or admin.

Change permissions, numbers or limits

Connect the assistant again (in ChatGPT or Claude, reconnect the connector) and choose the new settings on the Telenow page, then disconnect the old connection under Connected assistants. The agents and campaigns the assistant created stay its own when it comes back as the same client, connected by the same person: an assistant that names itself with a client metadata URL (ChatGPT and Claude publish one) is recognised; one that registers afresh on each connection is a new client, and what the old one made stays in Telenow for you.
