MCP: Telenow in ChatGPT, Claude and Grok
Connect Telenow to your AI assistant — ChatGPT (and OpenAI dots), Claude, Grok — and it makes phone calls for you from your own Telenow number, runs calling campaigns, builds voice agents, and tells you how every call went.
Telenow is an MCP server. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard AI assistants use to work with other services: you add Telenow to your assistant once, sign in, choose what it may do, and from then on you just ask.
"Call Sharma Dental on +91 98… and book me in for Thursday after 5."
"Find physiotherapy clinics in Indiranagar and ask each one whether they take walk-ins this week."
"Who called my Telenow number today, and what did they want?"
What an assistant can do
| Place calls | One call at a time — by the built-in calling agent with a task you describe, or by one of your agents. The assistant gets a call id at once, follows the call, and reads you the outcome, a summary and the transcript. |
| Read your calls | The calls on the numbers you connect: the ones it placed and the ones those numbers received. |
| Build voice agents | Single-context agents for one job, and multi-step (flow) agents when a call has several scenarios or conditions — every option of the Agents API, with the voice chosen by listening to samples. Keys and knowledge bases are added in Telenow. |
| Quote a price | The cost per minute of an agent, or of a setup you are planning, worked out as the agent builder works it out. |
| Run campaigns | Bulk calling: a draft with the people to call, your calling window and retries, started and paused when you say so, with results person by person. |
How it works
- You add
https://api.telenow.ai/mcpto your assistant as a connector — see Connect your assistant. - The assistant opens a Telenow page. You sign in and choose what it may do, the organization, the numbers it may use, and optional limits.
- When you ask for something, the assistant uses Telenow's tools —
place_call,get_call,create_campaignand the rest (Tools reference). Telenow does the work under the same rules as the dashboard: your Do-Not-Call list, consent where your organization requires it, the legal calling hours Telenow enforces, your spend and usage limits. - The assistant tells you what happened. Before anything that reaches real people — a call, starting a campaign, adding people to a running one — it asks you first.
Supported assistants
| Assistant | How it connects |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | A custom MCP connector (developer mode). On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin enables custom connectors first. |
| OpenAI dots | Dots use the connectors on your ChatGPT account. |
| Claude | Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. |
| Grok | grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom. |
| Grok Bot and other assistants | Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server: the same URL, with sign-in — or an API key where it asks for a token. |
| Claude Code, your own MCP client, the xAI API | An organization API key in an Authorization header. |
What it cannot do
- Call from numbers you did not pick, or read the calls on them.
- Give an agent tools, webhooks, call transfers, custom model or speech endpoints, or links — unless you tick Give agents tools when you connect it.
- Start, add people to, or change campaigns and agents it did not create. (It can pause any campaign set to call from its numbers.)
- See or set API keys and credentials — yours or your vendors'. It sees a stored key only as a mask (

Where to next
- Connect your assistant — step by step, for each assistant.
- Use cases at a glance — what people do with it, with example conversations.
- Tools reference — every tool, what it takes and what it returns.
- Costs per minute — how the assistant prices a call.
- Protocol & OAuth for developers — if you build your own MCP client.
