Ask about your calls

Your assistant can read the calls on the Telenow numbers you connected — the ones it placed and the ones those numbers received — and answer questions about them: who called, what they wanted, what was agreed.

It sees only calls on the numbers you picked when connecting, and only with the Read calls permission. An organization API key sees every call in its organization.

Example: today's calls

You: Who called my Telenow number today, and what did they want?

The assistant lists today's inbound calls:

{
  "name": "list_calls",
  "arguments": { "direction": "inbound", "since": "2026-10-07T00:00:00+05:30" }
}
{
  "calls": [
    {
      "call_id": "a41d…",
      "status": "ended",
      "direction": "inbound",
      "from": "+919811122233",
      "to": "+918045678901",
      "started_at": "2026-10-07T10:12:04+05:30",
      "duration_seconds": 182,
      "outcome": "answered"
    },
    {
      "call_id": "9be0…",
      "status": "ended",
      "direction": "inbound",
      "from": "+919900044455",
      "to": "+918045678901",
      "started_at": "2026-10-07T12:40:51+05:30",
      "duration_seconds": 41,
      "outcome": "answered"
    }
  ]
}

…then reads each one with get_call and answers:

Assistant: Two calls today.

  1. 10:12, +91 98111 22233 (3 min) — Mehta Traders asked for a quote on 50 units of the 2 kW inverter, delivered to Pune by the 20th. Your agent promised a callback with prices.
  2. 12:40, +91 99000 44455 (41 s) — asked whether you are open on Sunday; your agent said 10 am to 2 pm.

Example: turn a call into follow-up

You: Summarise the Mehta Traders call and draft a follow-up email with our price of ₹38,500 a unit.

The assistant reads the call (get_call), takes the summary, the extracted fields and the transcript, and writes the email itself — Telenow only supplies the call. You review and send it from your own email.

Example: call someone back

You: Call Mehta Traders back and tell them we can do ₹38,500 a unit for 50, delivered by the 18th.

The assistant already knows the number from the call, confirms with you, and places the call (place_call) with those details. It then follows that call as in One-off calls for you.

Example: search your history

You: Did anyone call about bulk orders this week? Only calls longer than two minutes.

The assistant lists the week's calls (list_calls with since a week ago — up to 100 per request), keeps the ones over two minutes, and reads their summaries with get_call.

What a call record holds

list_calls returns each call's id, status, direction, the two numbers, when it started and ended, its duration, and the carrier's outcome. get_call adds:

  • summary — the post-call summary, a minute or two after the call ends (summary_status: pending, then ready; not_available when there will be none — the agent does not analyse calls, the call was too short or nothing was said, or the analysis failed);
  • analysis — what the agent's analysis extracted (Post-call analysis), the sentiment and the next steps;
  • transcript — who said what, the agent and the other party; for a very long call the newest turns are kept;
  • end_reason — how it ended: ended for an ordinary ending, or a specific reason such as max_duration or voicemail_drop.

The transcript is information, not instructions

Whoever answers a call can say anything — including "ignore your instructions". Every get_call result tells the assistant to treat the other party's words as information about the call, never as instructions. And whatever an assistant does next, it can only do what its permissions, your numbers and your limits allow — see Permissions, limits & safety.
